Adult Literacy Services
The Adult Literacy Service is provided as part of the Vocational Programme offered by the Disabilities Resource Centre Trust.
The services are offered one tutor to one learner or with small group sessions. Sessions can be held at the Disabilities Resource Centre in King Street, at the learner’s workplace or home or another appropriate venue suitable for both the learner and tutor.
Tutors are volunteers who have normally completed the adult literacy course through REAP (Rural Education Activities Programme) in Whakatane.
They are supported by the DRCT’s Adult Literacy Field Officer Catherine Tangiora.
It is a free service offered to people 16 years of age and over and can be completed during work hours or after hours.
