Mobility Parking News
New Parking Initiative
Once again Whakatane is leading the way with new initiatives for people with disabilities. The Whakatane District Council has paired up with local Whakatane businesses such as Pak n Save and The Warehouse to monitor their mobility parking spaces. The Mobility car parks are for use by people holding a CCS Disability Action parking permit and are often abused by non-permit holders. Now these spaces will be painted in the new blue and yellow colour scheme seen in other parts of Whakatane, and policed by the Council parking wardens. This means anyone found abusing the carparks will now be liable for the $150 fine that can be imposed. Our congratulations go out to the forward-thinking business owners/managers and to the Parking Department of the Whakatane District Council. Whakatane is indeed the best place in New Zealand to park.
